Report of webinar conducted by IT Department on “Gender Equity & Equality”
Date of Webinar 11 November 2020 Department of Information Technology, GNIOT Group of Institution, Greater Noida has conducted a webinar on ‘Gender Equity & Equality”.
Dr. Manoj Singhal HOD, Information Technology Department had formally inaugurated the webinar by welcoming Ms. Shobha Lal (Secretary, Gurgaon Gramin Mahila Mandal, Rtd. Government Officer from Rural Women Development Office ) guest speaker, Dr Juhi Singh(M.Phil, Ph.D from JNU) guest speaker, Dr. Rajesh Goel, Director GNIOT, Dr. Dhiraj Gupta, Dean Academics GNIOT, Faculty Members GNIOT and all participants.
Dr. Rajesh Goel, Director GNIOT elaborated that gender equity & equality are related terms but have different meaning. Gender equity &equality between men and women does not mean that men and women have to become the same but that their right responsibilities and opportunity will not depend on whether they were bore male or female.
The main speaker Ms. Shobha lal has explained the ground reality of gender discrimination in rural and urban areas and value system in family. She also explained that there is need to support each other to solve any issue for women empowerment and sustainable development by her huge experience.
Dr Juhi Singh has emphasized that how relevant this topic for the current and future citizens and raised their awareness of gender equality.
